Stripes

Today's new sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday offers the option to make this a CAS card. My card is fairly clean and simple. I used Simon Says Stamp Stripes Card Wrap die in each corner, and backed it with some alcohol ink scraps. The die cuts out the triangle so I did have to trim the front panel a bit and then adhered it to a matt gold card front. The sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Simply Thank You set was heat embossed.

There is some amazing creative inspiration from the design team at TSOT. Check them out and give this sketch a try!

Simple Thanks

My card today was so fun to create. A while ago I watched a Chrissie Stokes video of a very fun technique: use liquid adhesive to fix colored tissue on card stock and squish it up while still wet to create texture and let it dry. Then lightly rub Gilding wax over the rough edges.  I made a bunch of sheets in different colors.

Today I cut one of the pieces with Simon Says Stamp Large Stitched Maple Leaf die. The card front was embossed with Altenew's Linen folder, and I rubbed gilding wax along the edges of the smaller rectangle and used a Gina K Designs stamp from the Fluttering Fall set to gold heat emboss the sentiment. More sparkle from some sequins in my stash.

It's still summer!

Not sure about any of you, but I am NOT ready to let go of summer and all it's sunny goodness. The new autumn and Christmas sets are in my cart to buy and some already in my new box, but I just can't face crafting with them yet. I made one a few weeks ago and it looks goofy on display in my 80 degree craft room.  :-)

So I have used the Simon Says Stamp Beachy Keen set and some bold colors to inspire you with this week's sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I stamped the umbrella and lined it up to make the fully open umbrella. I used some Copics to color and add some dots and fussy cut it. It has been popped up on the blue piece. I used a stencil and some pigment ink to create the clouds.

I hope you will join us at AHSC and link up any season of craftiness!

A Single Rose

A  new challenge at Allsorts! #690/1 is Anything Goes/ Option Roses

There are two prizes for this challenge- one from Oakwood and images from Ruth Hamilton Design.

I made two cards with Ruth Hamilton's Rose Bud image. This first one bold with black and white and red. I colored the image with Altenew Artist Markers and cut with a Gina K Designs stitched oval. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp May 2020 kit, papers from my stash.

The second was lightly ink blended and fussy cut with scissors and craft knife. I adhered it to a panel that had been lightly ink blended using Simon Says Stamp Rose Trio stencil and cut with one of the dies in Altenew's Mix and Match Frames die set. The pale pink back panel was debossed with Altenew's Dotted Starburst cover die. The sentiment was the most exciting part for me - I discovered a sheet of preprinted sentiments from SSS. It was the perfect thing for this card!

There are some marvelous inspiration cards to see HERE from the rest of the design team. I hope you'll check them out and join us in this challenge.

Back to School

Hello Tuesday!  A brand new sketch at

Try Stampin' On Tuesday!

You may use the photo inspiration or the sketch or both for #569.

My card used both. I stamped with two fun and long retired sets from CTMH.

I sure hope you will play along.

Fancy Feather

My card today was inspired by the sketch at

CAS Colours & Sketches #482 and also by two crafters who used the coloring/stamping technique - Kelly Latevola Taylor and Jennifer McGuire.

I first stamped a feather from Gina K Designs Fancy Feathers set in black on a top fold white card. Then stamped the feather in white pigment ink on the black, and then with Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon. It was very vibrant color when wet, but dried back very subtle, so I used a white gel pen to highlight.  I wanted so much to be able to capture the color, so I tried again and heat embossed with clear before the inks dried. It was a bit brighter.  Two subtly different looks.  Which do you like better?

You are Loved SS#707

Good morning! Hope you have a fun and crafty weekend ahead. The new sketch at Sketch Saturday will be available to link up for two weeks.

My inspiration card for you used a cut and emboss die from Simon Says Stamp and their embossing folder Exotic Vines. I rubbed the small die cut with Foundry Wax and heat set it. The sentiment is from Gina K Designs Bitty Botanicals set. Simon Says gold matt finish card stock for accents.

I hope you'll give this sketch a try and link up so we can see your great creations!

Birthday

I needed to create a special card for a guy friend celebrating his 60th next week. It goes in the mail today.

I used two new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs and some Distress Oxide inks on my Gelli plate, then cut a section of the print with my new Mix and Match Frames die from Altenew. I adhered the cut piece to a piece of navy card and popped up the vertical strips with foam tape. The numbers are from a past SSS kit and sentiment from Gina K Designs.

Merry Christmas AHSC 485

It's very hot here and it does feel strange to be making a Christmas card...but the sketch inspired me!

Happy Monday at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #485!

My card uses some fun papers from a Simon Says kit 2020, a Lawn Fawn wreath die, and a sleigh die from Memory Box. The center panel was embossed with a snowflakes folder.  This is my first card for the Christmas box 2022 :-)

Hope you'll play along with the sketch - any season welcome!

Allsorts #688 Create Your Background

The new challenge at Allsorts this week provides you with the chance to play and get messy if you want to!  You may choose the 'anything goes' option or try the Create Your Own Background challenge!

The  prize this week is a store voucher from sponsor WOWVOW

To create my background I ink smooshed Candied Apple, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness Distress inks on some Bristol card. When it was dry, I stamped some dots in a sandy color and a screen background stamp in a darker shade, did some black ink and white paint splatter. When it was dry I stamped the leaves and then painted the outside edges and veins of the leaves with Rustic Wilderness. The sentiment was stamped in black pigment ink and clear heat embossed.  Both leaves and sentiment are from Gina K Designs Botanical Leaves set.

There are some beautiful projects HERE from the rest of the design team. I hope you will check it out and play along this week!

Thank you for visiting.

Belated B-day Fun

Got this cute little Lawn Fawn stamp and die set in the recent surprise box fund raiser at Simon Says Stamp. I finally got a moment to play today and used a circle stencil to ink blend a sky with Distress Oxides and flicked water drops and then splattered with gilded Foundry Wax. When you heat set the wax it puffs up and sets.  Then I stamp, colored and die cut the little planet. The sentiments were cut with SSS die strips.  I added a few tiny stars from Pretty Pink Posh for more sparkle.  I love how this turned out :-)

Tiny Strawberries

New sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday!  Sketch #567 has the optional theme: plants.

In my yard strawberry plants  belong to the birds and squirrels. The grandchildren occasionally manage to score one or two, but they grow more for our fun observing animals up close than anything else. It's worth the entertainment!  They know better than to approach the blueberries though.

My design team inspiration for you is a square 5.5" card using a Waffle Flower die, Impression Obsession strawberry die, and Scripty Sayings sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

I hope you will check out the amazing projects from the design team and play along with us at TSOT!
