Blast from the Past - Art Deco

The challenge this week at Allsorts is "A Blast from the Past."                                                             This could be Vintage, Retro, or Art Deco.

Prizes from Stampendous will be selected from entries to challenge #780 and this one, # 782.

So my DT card this week is an attempt at Art Deco.  When I looked it up, the description was 'strong linear pattern and use of bold color like red and gold.'  I used a Simon Says Stamp layered stencil, Stepped Back Blocks, inked with Gina K Cherry Red and Plum Punch inksI then stenciled a layer with gold Lunar Paste. This was my first time using it, and it is not perfect, but not horrible :-) The sentiment is a SSS die cut from gold mat.  I used Altenew's Linked Ovals embossing folder for the back panel.

Hope to see you linked up at Allsorts this week!

R,W, & B Celebrate!

A super cute celebration card today in red, white, & blue inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #637 and colors, stripes and stars of the Card Concept photo.

I used some paper from my scrap box. The critter stamps are Avery Elle, Summer of Stamping Soak it Up, and the cake is Art Impressions, a prize stamp I won recently. I colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped them up on some squares inked with a bit of blue. Glassy accents on the sunglasses.

Atlantic Hearts Daisy

Monday morning means a new sketch at

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!

The sun came out and I must rush outside to get some plants potted and dug into the garden.  One is a beautiful daisy given to me for my birthday. Daisies are the the flowers of P.E.O. and I love sending my chapter sisters greetings.

I've made this card with papers/embellishment from my stash drawer and a sentiment from Gina K Designs.

Hope you will join the challenge this week at AHSC

Allsorts 15th Birthday Celebration

My card today is part of the Design Team celebration of a milestone birthday for the Allsorts challenge!

A special Birthday deserves special prizes and we are so excited that our friends at AALL and Create really wanted to be involved and have donated a huge bundle of their products, stamps, stencils, ephemera and washi tape which will be spilt randomly between 15 very lucky winners.

I ordered Buttercream Birdy Bliss (#1139) specially for this challenge, and it was SO much fun to color.  The ALL&Create stencil I used, Snow Pines (#139), was a gift from the challenge last year and has become a favorite for background creation. Fortunately for those of us in the USA, there are several companies that carry these wonderful products.

I colored with Altenew Artist Markers, and the sentiments inside (there is a Happy Birthday above the celebrate not shown) are from a long retired birthday set from Close To My Heart.
I was thrilled to remember that it had some interesting fonts on it and they matched the Birdy Bliss perfectly.  I added a few tiny black enamel dots to keep the easel fold upright.
This design is from Simply Simple Stamping

Allsorts is a fantastic weekly themed challenge with a dedicated and caring team. We really hope you will celebrate this special birthday with us and share your projects.

Love for Mother's Day

Made a card today for my daughter-in-law. It says Happy Mother's Day inside with a personal note.
I rubbed Gina K Dark Carnation ink on Altenew's Spring Blossoms 3D embossing folder, embossed a piece of blush card stock, then rubbed white pigment ink lightly over the raised portions. I sprayed with gold shimmer spray and also splattered with Brutus Monroe Shimmer splash.  The sentiment was cut three times using a die from Gina K Designs Love You Trio. Then added even more gold with a mat and some Pretty Pink Posh confetti. I just love this simple but effective technique!

Spots & Stripes

Good Morning!  Great new challenge for this week at Allsorts selected by DT Lorraine is to use

Spots and Stripes on your project.  Of course, the Anything Goes is fine if you prefer.

Prizes for this challenge are from Stampendous

My card uses striped paper from a black and white pad from Altenew, and all other products are from Gina K Designs - Dotted Swiss embossing folder, and stamp/stencil/dies from her Modern Floral set, and Peach Bellini and Sweet Mango inks. I did use a black gel pen to add a few spots to the centers of the flowers.

Hope you will play along with us this week!

Allsorts will be celebrating it's 15th Birthday with a very special challenge next week!!

Oh, Knit!

A fun card today for several challenges and to play with a pop-up design seen on Jennifer McGuire's recent video about adding dimension to cards.  She showed how to create a pop-up for your front panel. It folds flat for mailing.

I used a Sizzix Sweater embossing folder, matted with blush and yellow card, stamped Simon Says Stamp Yarn Love with black and heat embossed with clear, colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.

Linking to Color Dare #598     and    Daring Card Makers - Elemental (I used knitting, texture and                                                                                                                      and colors from the photo)

Diamond Gate

Have been collecting directions for lots of folds watching Simply Simple Stamping on YouTube. Such a wonderful source for ideas and tips.  This is my try at a Diamond Gate Fold today using some lovely paper a friend gifted me Saturday and a beautiful outline set sent as a thank you from Altenew last year.

I have used some dark charcoal and fog card stock for framing and my images were stamped in Slate ink on the fog panels, then colored with Prisma pencils.

Hello Sunshine - TSOT #646

It is raining today but I know sunshine is on the way.  A dear friend and stamping buddy came over today to help with a decoration project and brought some stamps to share.  So today's card is from her set that I just had to borrow -  Soak It Up, Ellen Hutson - I tried to find it available anywhere, but unfortunately I think it was sold just before she closed her shop :-(   I used a Simon Says Stamp die-cut for the sun, and My Favorite Things stencil for waves.  I stamped the images, colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut them, cut a slit in the unicorn float and tucked the rhino in for a ride. I cut out some 'hands and feet' and added them, too. The diagonal panel is popped up as are the center items. A little Glossy Accents added to sunglasses and splashes.

Check out the fabulous inspiration cards from the Design Team at TSOT   -   Try A Sketch On Tuesday  and join the fun!  We really love seeing how you will interpret this sketch.

Borders AHSC #576

New fun for this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

My DT inspiration for you uses LOTS of snippets from my color card scrap bin. I just went through the scraps and picked a range of blues.                  The horizontals are all punched with Spellbinders Punch & Pierce Borders, flowers from Spellbinders Floral Butterfly set, and sentiment from Gina K Designs Lovely Flowers.

So excited to see the creative ways this sketch will be interpreted. Please get crafty and share your project with us at AHSC.

Gatefold Card

At Allsorts this week the challenge is to make a project with more than one fold.  I was in Japan and away for five weeks, so I am overwhelmed with yard work. The yard sprang into growth mode and the weeds have taken over! So my DT card is a simple gatefold with a belly band.  I have used some patterned paper purchased in Japan.  I looked through lots of my flower stamps and the Gina K Designs set Forget Me Nots were the closest thing in size and shape. The sentiment was stamped in Blue Denim ink and is from Gina K's Fancy Phrases set. I also put some  Sweet Lilac Nuvo Crystal Drops on the circle.

There are some wonderful prizes this week from Oakwood (2 x A5 stamp sets) and Highlight Crafts (3 x A5 stencils)

And coming up soon is the celebration of Allsorts Challenge 15th Birthday! Lots of special prizes on that week, so don't miss the fun coming soon.
