Hello Paper Players #492

I've finished using all the backgrounds made on the weekend with the new Jennifer McGuire Distress Stencil technique. This is one of my favorites and I used the Paper Players sketch this week.   The sentiment and eucalyptus die cuts are from Simon Says, and some Nuvo drops for embellishment. I love this stencil from MFT, Moroccan Mosaic, that reminds me of many happy memories visiting that beautiful country.

And another card I made using the sketch. On the Altenew blog hop this weekend, someone used alcohol inks on acetate and placed it over the white card base where image was stamped in black. I tried, but the purple ink simply would not 'stick' enough to the acetate. Itried using Snow Cap- but forgot that it is opaque. I found the mistake while cleaning off my desk and really liked the way it looked...so I stamped the Altenew Paint a flower Iris on top of the acetate with StazOn ink. Adhered to white card base as I would have to create a shaker.  Love it!

Thinking of You

Inspired by Jennifer McGuire's video on a new Distress ink technique!  She was using the new Distress color Speckled Blue, which I do not have yet. But I wanted to try this unique way of using Distress and stencils right away. I made four panels with various colors and stencils on Solar white card stock.  You color the whole piece with ink - direct to paper- and then place the panel on a rubber mat, the stencil on top, a baby wipe on top of that and run through your die cut machine. It is magical!!!  The damp baby wipe lifts off some of the ink, and creates a slightly raised embossing. The card base and sentiment strip is on cream card stock.

AAA #165 Challenge

Last minute entry here...time flies by. I've been thinking of this card for days and finally sat down to make it.  Used some inks to blend and Lawn Fawn set for image and sentiment.  Copic colored the watermelon.  AAA Cards

Atlantic Hearts #369

Monday sketch time at Atlantic Hearts!  This week is a very versatile sketch. Great for creating cards quickly and a lovely way to use some of your favorite papers or your backgrounds.  This weekend I was going through some of the origami papers I have collected - most while visiting my son in Japan. The tiny flowers were part of a CTMH Petite Perks set from long ago. I heat embossed and water colored those and fussy cut them out.  Create a card or scrapbook page and join us at
Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week!

Happiness

Excited to play with some Altenew things that arrived in the mail yesterday. I used the
CAS Colours and Sketches # 370 sketch as my inspiration.  The horizontal panel was heat embossed with a Simon Says Stamp background and then water brushed with a Zig marker. The butterfly was stamped twice on two shades of blue patterned origami paper and then paper pieced. I stamped the sentiment on another piece of origami paper cut with a stitched circle die.

Congrats!

Two years ago my P.E.O. chapter sponsored a really special student - she was a young girl who earned her Associates Degree and High School diploma at 17, and she was going to college. We just heard that she is graduating from college at the end of the month and has been accepted for her Masters program in New Zealand!  This is my card to send her.  I was inspired by
CAS(E) this Sketch #371, and used Altenew Dotted Starburst Debossing cover die on the cream panel, then heat embossed the shooting star image. The sentiment die from Impression Obsession was cut and stacked for dimension.  It is difficult to see the subtle debossing in the photo, but it really does add interest.

Monday  "May the Fourth be With You"

Several dear friends share my coffee passion - coffee is my superpower!! - and we have missed our long walks to Ruston coffee, and Saturday morning Starbuck's meetups...We talk every few days, but we long to be in person again.  Until then...

My card also inspired by this week's sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  My card will appear there with the design team on Wednesday. But don't wait for that...get crafting with a big mug of your favorite beverage.

I blended some inks with Altenew's Square Weave stencil. The cup is a die from IO dies Impression Obsession), the sentiment from Impress. The papers are from a carefully hoarded favorite from years ago - Close To My Heart, Dreamin' collection.  Cleaning the craft room means finding favorite papers and actually using them up!

Retirement Congrats

This card is for a best friend who retired from 35 years as a state and federal judge this week!  She is a voracious reader, creative chef, a stand-up comedian, knitter, and artistic quilter. I stamped the yellow card stock with an older CTMH set, Two-Step Backgrounds. The black card stocks were a combo of Altenew Essentials and another from my CTMH stash.  The sentiment is a CZ Design from the  Cleanline Everyday set.  It was embossed with Darice Wire Fence embossing folder.

The inspiration came from this TIME OUT Challenges photo. I knew right away I wanted to do a quilt card.  I can't sew, but am addicted to paper quilting!
