My Other Hobby

Cooking, baking, canning, collecting recipes, reading (member of three book clubs), and gardening...how to choose?  Well, right now the garden is being very demanding so it won the competition for this challenge.  Yesterday I roasted and pickled beets, blanched pounds of green beans and got them packaged for the freezer, and dug out the ricer to prepare for the growing pile of tomatoes that can no longer be conquered with panzanella or BLT's.  Time to begin the containers of puree for the freezer and next winter's soups and sauce. Thanking my parents and grandparents for teaching me the joys and rewards of the garden.

I have used a favorite older stamp set from Impress with Close to My Heart inks and Zig waterbrush markers.  Lots of clean white space - unlike my hands and kitchen counter!

There are some amazing cards at AAA Cards challenge. Check them out and there is still time to play along!

Vintage

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #383

This week's sketch inspired me to pull out several things from the stash of treasured, 'can't throw that away' items.  Years ago I acquired a stack of these small images, and though many have found their way onto tags or cards, many remain!  I just love the various messages and vintage feel to them.  Haven't done a card with that vibe in a while and it was fun to distress paper once again!  I also went 'skinny' - now trendy-  slim line card. Only new things used were sentiment from an Altenew set and the postage die cut from Simon Says Stamp. My Close to My Heart friends may recognize the papers and embellishment.

This would be a wonderful sketch for a holiday card....what will you make?  Link up at AHSC, and drop by Wednesday to see the rest of the design team creations.

Back to School

I retired from teaching six years ago, but have substituted and volunteered every year since then.  This will be my first year not in a classroom because of COVID, but I will be able to help my grandchildren as they distance learn.

My card is basically one layer then set on a red card base.  I used the ruler stamp for the other frame in the sketch. I used some masking for the images in the lower right corner.

Birthday

Freshly Made Sketch # 448 this week.

My card uses Altenew Paint-a-Flower Anemone and a Papertrey Ink sentiment. I shaded the flowers on the image with a Copic marker.

Atlantic Hearts #381

Image may contain: text that says 'Sketch 381 Sentiment Createdby Michelle Stewart for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Chal hallenge'

Monday means a fun new sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  My card will post there Wednesday when the Design Team adds their inspiration. But you don't need to wait. Check out the sketch, create your card and post on the Linky.

My card used some background paper from my stash, floral image/dies from Altenew (Charming Doodles) colored with Altenew Artist Markers, and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp (Leafy Frames).  The button element is a Close To My Heart embellishment from my stash. As I type this I realized I left out the little band of card stock behind it...hope that since it's not a button it will be ok.

Enjoy the ride

Freshly Made Sketches this week!   I have been cleaning my solid card stock drawers of scraps. Saving everything just is crazy.  I had a pile of neutrals - the last drawer - sitting on my table and thought I would try a masculine card.  After cutting lots of strips of various widths, I put adhesive on the vertical panel and randomly attached them, trimmed the sides, and attached to the card front.

The bicyle is part of an older Hero Arts set, sentiment from a long retired CTMH, and the postage die is new from Simon Says.

AAA Card Challenge

Using some Sea Glass and Olive inks to create a watery card for AAA Cards Challenge #171
