Week: 144 CAS-ology 'Flight'

For CAS-ology, a second post today because I dreamt about this card....crafter obsession, right? Just woke up with the image and had to put it together.   It's a darling Bug-a-Boo digital image and sentiment.  I colored, fussy cut, used a Fiskars cloud punch, sponged with Jim Holtz Distress ink, and popped with mounting tape.  I used my glitter Gelly Roll pen on the wings and halo.  It makes me smile.

Flip + Fold

Saw a really fun card on a blog with a link to directions here.  Beth Beard gives all the measurements and scoring guide you need.  So this is my first try.  It's a fairly standard fold with a great and very easy twist.  I sketched out directions in my craft journal.  Now after making the card, I just watched the video again so I could link to my post.  Her paper selection is SO much nicer.  I will make more of these and try for more subtle tone-on-tone paper I think.  I like the way it stands up for display.

Back in the Craft Room with Simon Says Stamp

It has been a very busy month of yard projects and rehearsals/performances of a play.  After almost three decades out of theatre, I accepted the offer of a tiny part in a local theatre production.  It has been lots of fun, but takes up all my time!  I've missed being able to indulge in my other passion for paper and ink.  I had fun distressing brick walls for the set though. Some skills are transferable!

I have some wonderful new products from Simon Says that I have been playing with a bit.  More of their lovely things are in the mail :-)  They have designers that blow your socks off. Many of them make instructional videos as well that are superb. I started watching http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/   and now am devoted to several others.  She usually posts two videos a week, and I have learned so much watching them.

My card uses Big Birthday Wishes and Bundle of Stitched Shapes - both from Simon Says STAMP!
Paper is from My Mind's Eye, 'Here is Happy' collection. Card stock, inks, and embellishments from Close to My Heart.

Inside I used  sentiments from that same stamp set.  It has some wonderful birthday sentiments!

 

Stylish

Little Black dress, shiny clutch, matching pumps, and pearls....that's Style to me.  I have loved this Close To My Heart stamp set for many years. One of those you just can't bear to part with!
I stamped in Memento Black Tuxedo and the purse in Cranberry ink, glossed with Liquid Glass.

Spring in the Air

That's the saying....showers bring the flowers.  We just need to be patient.
This card uses a favorite pad of My Mind's Eye: Here Is Happy for papers.  I combined some old (retired, like me! haha) stamps from Close To My Heart sets for the umbrella and sentiment.

Sweet Birthday Words

The March One-Layer Simplicity challenge (OLS #14) is to use words - no other stamps.  It occurred to me that I could mask off a cupcake shape and use as many of the Sweetest Cupcakes stamps as possible from the My Pink Stamper set.  I cut out a cupcake shape on a post-it and sponged a bit of Pixie and Chocolate inks around it. Then stamped a selection of birthday/cupcake words.  So, hopefully, it fits the rules!! 

 

My Boys

Loved this versatile sketch from Pal Paper Arts #244 this week.  I colored the Bug a Boo digital with Prisma colors.  The card base was random stamped with a Hero Arts bicycle and some sports stuff from a Close To My Heart set called Let's Play Ball (retired).  This card will go to my cute grandsons - I am looking forward to seeing them at Easter ♥
