Sympathy

AAA Card Challenges are wonderful, and they also have a Facebook Group and there they have 'weekend workout' challenges. I joined a while back and get lots of inspiration from the posts there.

This week the question was "Can you use ribbon or twine on a CAS card?"   So I stamped Altenew's Lavender Bud twice. I used the die to cut them out and tied the two together with some twine that matched the ink.  I stamped the CZ Design sentiment with the same ink on a top folding card base...it just needed something...so I pulled out a strip embossing folder and used it along one edge before adhering the lavender buds.

Birthday Hello

My design team card for Sketch Saturday #649 uses some papers from my stash and a My Favorite Things image from the Adorable Adventures set colored with alcohol markers. The sentiment die cut from Poppy.

The challenge is sponsored by Riley & Co. and runs through March 5th.

Hope you will join us at Sketch Saturday!

Rainbow Birthday

My card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #409, and linked to Just Us Girls #572

The card uses Altenew dies ( Fine Frames Diamonds and Essential Sentiment Strips) and paper scraps from my stash.  The sketch had me really stuck until I saw the Rainbow challenge.  This was fun to cut and piece together.

Bunny Gift

This old set from Close To My Heart has the sweetest images. I thought of it immediately when I saw the new challenge at AAA Cards!   I used a piece of watercolor paper and stamped the image in Antique Linen and then painted the image with Distress inks for a no-line watercolor.  When dry, it was cut with a stitched square and I backed it with a square of fun foam for some dimension on a cream 5" square card base.  I will keep the sentiment inside the card to not distract from this little picture.

Beautiful

Inspired by two challenges for this card:  Freshly Made Sketches 473 and

                                                            Color Throwdown 630

The floral image is Altenew Paint a Flower, Camellia; the sentient is from the Paeonia Japonica PAF set. The image was colored with Blush and Rouge Artist Markers and G 21 Copic. I lightly stamped, colored and then stamped again with VersaMark and embossed with Nuvo classic gold powder.

Pink Color Dare

 COLOR DARE  #430

It's been such a busy week, finally having time to finish some cards and photograph them. I made this pink background using the wax paper resist technique with an embossing folder. After watching a Gina K live I had lots of fun experimenting. My iron was happy to be dusted off!

I lightly blended CTMH Pixie ink. The rest of the stamps and dies are from Altenew, and the floral was colored with Altenew Artist markers.   Pinks + green.  The photo doesn't show the tiny gold splatters, but they shimmer in the light.

Birthday Daisy

There are 44 wonderful friends in my P.E.O. chapter and I send them birthday cards. Our flower is the daisy, so I am always on the look out for paper, stamps and dies to make them,  This sketch inspired the use of the Peeking Daisy die by Simon Says Stamp. Papers are from a SSS monthly kit and Close To My Heart. Sentiment from CTMH was heat embossed.

Friendship

Inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch # 472 and my new My Favorite Things set of  What Friendship Means stamps and dies.

I stamped the background with Whisper ink -second generation -on a smaller panel, cut with the Friendship die, and backed it with some patterned paper, and used the same red polka dot paper for one of the horizontal strips. The white sentiment strip was heat embossed with Hero Arts red powder. A few Nuvo drops were used for embellishment.

Atlantic Hearts #407

Monday is new challenge day at Atlantic Hearts!  I hope you will get crafty with the sketch and join us for this week's sketch.

It seemed fun to keep to the implied theme of the sketch, though that isn't at all necessary.  I have a folder of heart themed papers and these colorful hearts just looked so cheerful and irresistible. Origin unknown, but the sentiment is a Gina K design, and card stock CTMH embossed with CTMH folder. The heart was cut three times, and stacked for dimension and colored with a shimmer pen.

Have a crafty week!

Gel Plate Impressionism

I found an exciting new challenge blog!  Beyond the Blue  that shows some interesting new techniques to try in making your cards.  They included a short instructional video.  Playing with my Gel plate has been a new thing, and so I was inspired to give it a go.  It was a bit messy and it took 3-4 attempts to get something I felt could be saved. lol   New techniques require some practice and patience.

The one I'm sharing here still has rough edges, but it felt like a seaside storm to me and the more I look at it the more I like it.  This is certainly a technique I will continue to work with and perfect. It is very rewarding to use stamps, inks and supplies in new ways.  The image and sentiment are from a long retired and favorite set from Close to My Heart, Perfect Day

Poppy Masking

Creating some cards with my new Mini-Poppy set from Altenew.  Masked the main flower to do some second generation stamping.

Linking to Just Us Girls challenge.

I used Sorbet ink, and gold embossing for the sentiment, and Fog card stock panels on a white card base.
