Hello Friend!

Stencils...I bought quite a few in the last few months, and have only tried two.  This one is Ombre Stripes from  Altenew and the Penny Black and More Challenge to use 'Summer Colors' moved me to try it out with a few Distress Oxide inks. I used Scattered Straw, Shaded Lilac, Worn Lipstick, and Tumbles Glass.   **Summer Colours**

Just Us Girls #496 this week challenges us to make the sentiment the focal point of the card. This beautiful font is from a favorite Mama Elephant set. I stamped it with Versafine black. Splatters are water, Zig white ink, and CTMH Black re-inker.

Atlantic Hearts #325

A new sketch week, and a tale of ink woes...I want so much to be able to love my Altenew Layered flower stamps and new ink sets. But it is very difficult.  I am so challenged to get them aligned properly.  I thought I finally had practiced enough (lots of once lovely white card stock in the trash bin), and also marked the block side of my stamps with permanent ink dots to help...I cut masks for the flowers using the coordinating dies out of Inkadinado mask paper, and began stamping. Two terrible things occurred which required either giving up and adding to the trash, or problem solving.  I opted for problem solving. The result is far from perfect, but must do.
First, I stamped the outline with Memento...when I added the layers of dye ink, it bled. The second flower was stamped with Simon Says Intense Black and that worked much better. Then when I masked and inked the leaves, they did not print all the way to the flower.  So I smooshed some of the green inks on my work mat and used a water brush to fill in the gaps.  I tied some twine and added a few Nuvo drops.

Sorry

I rarely make square cards, and I'm not sure why.  It was very nice to make one today using the Freshly Made Sketch #395. I used Altenew's Dahlia set for the flower and leaves and colored them with Copics.  The sentiment is from a Close to My Heart set stamped with CTMH New England Ivy ink. Clear drops are from Studio Katia. The textured pink card stock is from the stash, and is very pale - difficult to photograph, but a lovely match to the flower's lightest shade.

Summertime Strawberries

At the end of last summer, I purchased these sweet little strawberry dies, but never used them until today.  I cut two colors of leaves. The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die as is the stitched rectangle die.
My garden has two large containers of strawberries that delight my littlest grandchildren. They inspect them on every visit and are excited to find  treats they can pick. The 1 1/2 year old adores this fun!  And I do, too, because of his sweet delight.

Smile

No photo description available.

My craft room has been busy...and once again I've neglected the blog.  Made 28 baby invitations for a friend hosting a shower, made several anniversary cards, made 6 birthday cards for late June early July birthdays...My dream would be to be able to create a card binder for the year with special cards ready made for sending each month. Anyone else do that?

When I got back from Japan, I was greedy for some new supplies. So for today's card, I managed to use quite a few of them.   The inspiration is Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #323.  Being on their design team really keeps me posting on the blog. And I love using Brandi and Michelle's wonderful sketches.  I didn't add the flower on the center panel in the sketch since I had a stencil flower placed in that spot anyhow.
.

Difficult to photograph the shimmer on the smile sentiment. I stacked three together for dimension. The flower stencil panel and the strip sentiment were popped up with foam tape.

Products used today are:
Altenew Floral Garden stencil with Distress Oxide inks:spun sugar, abandoned coral, crushed olive
Gina K designs smile sentiment and die set
My Favorite Things skinny strips die
Altenew Square Weave Pattern stencil with CTMH Pixie ink
Close to My Heart colored card stocks
Nina Solar White card stock
Life saving brushes from Picket Fence
foam tape
Wink of Stella pen
Pretty Pink Posh sequins

Perfect Popsicles

Image may contain: text

Here with my take on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #321.  This is a great sketch that is beautifully versatile. It will be very fun to see how crafters create with this!  Go here to link up your version, or to check out inspiration of the design team. We post on Wednesdays on the AHSC site.

I used Distress Oxide inks on the popsicle and sun burst, CTMH inks on the stick. Card stock is CTMH and Nina Solar Crest. The images and sentiment are from a new to me set Perfect Popsicles, by Sunny Studio. The sun behind the image is a Simon Says Stamp stencil, Solar Burst. Embellished with some enamel dots from CTMH.

AHSC #319

Wow, things have been busy and I totally lost track of time.

So here is my card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge design team.  This challenge was posted Monday and will close Sunday June 9th.

Go check it out and play along.  My card will post on their blog this morning with the design team inspiration.

I used a favorite older CTMH set,  Remarkable Wreath, stamped in CTMH chocolate and Distress Oxide Spun Sugar. Card base and paper used for the die cut sentiment are CTMH. The sentiment stamped and die cut from Hero Arts. Ribbon a serendipity find in my stash. I added some Liquid Pearls to the flower centers.

Watercolor Birthday

Wonderful day crafting with a best buddy. We got so much accomplished, played with new product, and we experimented with techniques, too. ♥

So I used my new Altenew set.  It arrived just before I left for Japan, and I was surprised to see how large an image it is!  I inked it up with Versa fine on some cold press watercolor paper.  I used my Daniel Smith card and my friend's boxed set to watercolor.  I'm am not good at this, but I LOVE doing it.  I used the coordinating die to cut it out.  I was going to put it on a pale gray card base, but my friend said white looked much better. She's smart. I brought it home and wasn't sure about a sentiment ...die cut? heat embossed?  Should have done it at her house while I had access to her inspiration and decisiveness :-) Decided on gold heat embossed with a Paper Trey sentiment. Then I tied gold thread and splattered shimmer watercolor.  I have many splatters on the table...celebrate the mess!

Here it is. I am linking to Watercooler Wednesday "Occasions" challenge.

HUGS

Back in the craft room!  It's been over a month...while I was in Japan I bought some water colors and did some painting. I'll be making some of them into cards soon.

Image may contain: textBut it is with pleasure I return to my Design Team at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is #317.  My card will be posted there Wednesday with the rest of the team's inspiration.  You can go there now and link up your card for this sketch!  At least check in and see what some talented crafters are doing.  A sketch design is a great way to get started, and Atlantic Hearts posts one every Monday.

I used an Avery Elle stamp and die set for the sentiment. The flowers are from Fab Flowers, stamps and die set from Lawn Fawn.  All inks are Close to My Heart. The dots were made with the blue ink, and then I added some Nuvo Jewel drops over them for a bit of shine. The blue flowers and sentiment strip are popped with foam tape, as is the panel cut with Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle.

AHSC #313

My card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #313
Wonderful sketch there this week - go check it out and play along!

I am posting from Iwaki, Japan!
I made this at home and brought it with me...but left my camera at home. So once again, I'm having to post a poor phone photograph.

This card used a favorite stamp set from Stamplorations - the butterflies are so pretty. This one was colored with Zig Clean Brush markers, and hand cut and popped up with foam tape. The triangle die cut is from Birch Press, backed with card stock. I used an edge trimmer for the scallop. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart.

Cherry Blossom Time

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #311

I am eagerly preparing for my trip to Japan. Leaving tomorrow, and hoping there will be a few cherry blossoms left to view in Northern Honshu!  The stamp set is retired CTMH , 'Fabulous You,' and I tried some water coloring on the image using Distress Oxides.  I stamped the diamond pattern from the set several times using CTMH Champagne ink. I stamped the image twice again, colored some of the flower images, fussy cut them and popped them up with a bit of foam tape.  I also added some highlights on the flowers with a black and white gel pens.

This is a wonderful sketch - hop on over to AHSC and play along. If you need a little more inspiration, my card and the rest of the Design Team will post there on Wednesday.

I apologize for the poor color...I seem to have lost my regular camera, and this was a phone photo...It is a soft, muted card. Very peaceful.  The close up shows the colors a bit better.

Have More Birthdays

I used a variety of Close To My Heart  stamp sets and inks to random stamp the background. The sentiment was popped up with some fun foam. The balloons were covered with the shimmer pen.

Where Am I?

Just Us Girls #478 "Use a Background Stamp"  and

Yesterday my to-do list went to page two...I have so many various projects, and looming deadlines. I feel so guilty about crafting things that aren't on the list.  But having some fun with the chaos is healthy, right?

These two challenges provided some fun for today. Life inspires art :-) I still feel scattered, but am getting through my list.

I used Hero Arts background stamp Picnic Blanket. First with some direct ink pad to stamp, then blending with my Picket Fence brush.  The sentiment (Rosies Roadshow) was heated embossed with Hero Arts white, and popped up with foam tape. I used a gel pen and some Nuvo drops.

Journey

Paper Players #432    and    Just Add Ink#447

I tried to combine two challenges with my card today.  I did a direct ink to paper with Distress Inks: candied apple, spiced marmalade, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, salty ocean, and seedless preserves.  Then cut the sentiment with a Memory Box die.  I cut it two more times in white so that it would sit smoothly over the other color card stock layers.  The inside sentiment is one from a cherished older set from Rubber Soul- 'Life Affirming.'

Koala Birthday

Image may contain: text

This is my DT card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #307

The Simon Says Stamp 'Picture Book' koala die cut really is too cute! It's nestled inside some Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Scalloped Circle dies- I cut three and adhered them, then popped them even more with foam tape. The outside scalloped frame is an Avery Elle rectangle die. The heart and flag are from Simon Says Baby Party Animals.  Whisper grey card stock is Close to My Heart.

Chocolate

.

This is a new challenge blog to me, and it sure struck a chord today!  Dieting always makes me crave chocolate.
I immediately thought of an older CTMH set that just hasn't been used enough. One chocolate image wasn't enough, so I masked the cupcake and added two other sweets, then paired it up with some punches and my new Lawn Fawn In Side Out Stitched Circle dies.

Butterfly Birthday

The background was made on glossy card stock with alcohol inks. Then I placed a stencil over it and pounced alcohol lift ink for the pattern.  When I lifted the stencil, I was disappointed because the stencil pattern was not really visible. I set it aside to dry...and the next morning, there was the pattern!!  This was an experiment, so the piece was small...and today looking for something to back my new Hero Arts fancy die, I saw that it fit.  The butterfly die cut is so pretty, but does cover up the pattern in the inked piece.  I used a scrap left for the embossed sentiment. I'm new at alcohol ink, but it has been great messy fun. Linking to Just Us Girls #477

PP 430 Birthday

Paper Players sketch #430 was used for this card.  I spent the weekend at a craft retreat and made this faux watercolor of daffodils which I cut with Spellbinders oval. I have rotated the sketch for this piece.  Background papers, card stocks, image and sentiment all from Close to My Heart.  I used Ranger Distress inks.
