Be Yourself

This one layer card was really quick and easy.  The silhouette stamp and sentiment are from a very old Close To My Heart set that has always been fun to use.  I taped off the section of my card front, ink blended with Sea Glass ink, then stamped bits and pieces of several different background/border stamps in Whisper ink. The silhouette and sentiment were then stamped with Versafine Black.

Lunar New Year

Had much fun piecing the lanterns together!  My Zodiac animal is the Ox and I found a cute one for the circle.

So for the Festive Friday Challenge #0076 I have used Ox, red, lanterns, foil paper and gold.

The sketch from Freshly Made Sketches was just right.

Coffee Soon?

Yesterday I created five different background panels with a wax paper/embossing folders/blended ink technique. (Emboss the wax paper; iron onto a piece of card stock; ink blend)

Today I am finding ways to create cards with them.  CAS(E) this Sketch #405 gave me an idea. So here I've used a strip from one created with a Tim Hotltz  Alterations folder. The cups were cut using a Memory Box die. Sentiments from Simon Says Stamp Happy Fall Ya'll set.

Sketch Saturday #645

New challenge at Sketch Saturday!  The design team has some fantastic inspiration for you. This is my DT card for the sketch.  I tried a wax paper technique for my background - which is a fun ink resist- using the Damask folder from Sizzix and ink blended with gray and yellows. The daffodils are colored with Copics and fussy cut from a larger bouquet image. (Altenew, Paint a Flower). The sentiment is from Altenew's Inked Lotus set. Embellishment pearls are from my stash. Simon Says Stamp Fog card base.

Hope you will join the challenge.

Sending Smiles AHSC #405

A new sketch this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge - and I tried a slimline card for my Design Team inspiration using some papers and die cuts from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment was cut on black glitter card stock and has great sparkle.

The challenge runs Monday, January 25 - Sunday, January 31.

I hope you will try the sketch and share with us at AHSC!

Night in the City

This card was made using the sketch at Inspire.Create. Challenges #82

I really love this CAS sketch!  I began by die cutting a circle from a piece of masking paper, placed it on a panel of Solar White card stock, ink blended with Distress Oxide Inks (Black Soot, Faded Jeans, Old Paper and Squeezed Lemonade), splattered with white ink and gold shimmer.  The city was stamped with my recent Altenew Mini -Pretty City in Versafine Onyx Black and the window layer with Squeezed Lemonade. It was cut with the coordinating die.  I traced the line of the circle and hand cut it to fit. The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson's Mondo Succulent set. It was trimmed and adhered to a SSS Fog card base with some foam for some dimension.

You are a Gem!

This evening I was inspired to try the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches with the color challenge at Just Us Girls : 3 shades of blue.

First, I stamped five gems and a center using Altenew's Mini Delight Precious Florette layering set with Iceberg, Eastern Sky and Ultramarine inks. It's a tiny image with 6 layers!  Put my eyes to the test! I did the outline layer last hoping it would cover any little gaps (it helped), and I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

Then, I taped off lines on a #110 card base and inked blended with the  same three Altenew inks.  I then blended the 'leaves' using the same colors with Simon Says Stamp Holiday Foliage stencil, and stamped the sentiment. The gem 'flower' was popped on with foam tape and I embellished the gems with Glossy Accents.

Zoom Birthday

Coming up on a full year of missed birthday gatherings...but we have found new ways to connect and celebrate.  My card was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch #468.Two new to me products were used for the first time: Mini Voices in My Head stamps  (Essentials by Ellen - Ellen Hutson) and Let's Connect die set (My Favorite Things).  I colored with my Altenew Artist Markers. The birthday sentiment is from a set from Altenew.

Sketch Saturday #643

Happy weekend!  Time for a new sketch this week at Sketch Saturday.  The challenge is sponsored by Riley & Co

My card used a variety of products, and a technique new to me - the Gelli Press.  What fun to play with that.  I did some second generation stamping on top. That panel was popped up with some foam tape as was the floral.

Products used:
Darice-Nesting Book Pages die
Simon Says Stamp-Detail Swirls Plate, You Matter Background stamp
Altenew- Dahlia Build a Flower stamp and die; PAF Anemone sentiment; inks and Artists Markers
Studio Katia- clear embellishment
Gelli Press inked with Distress Oxide inks

Emboss

Anniversary card for my DIL's parents inspired by Addicted to CAS Card Challenge.  They are such a devoted couple.  I used two forms of embossing on the card: one with a brass stencil, and the sentiment with embossing powder.

One Hot Chick on an ATC

So I have just recently discovered the ATC...yes, I am a slow learner!!  But what fun it is to change your space perspective.  Actually, I am enjoying it much more than the vast expanse of the slim line trend.

Fantastic new challenge from the                                              Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #176 -  A is for ATC. The Artist Trading Card is 2.5" x 3.5"   Tiny and Terrific.

For this I cut the card base from a heavy weight Vanilla Cream, embossed a top panel using Chicken Wire embossing folder, lightly brushed with some dye ink. The images and sentiment are from a Picket Fence set colored with Altenew Artist markers. I fussy cut the chick.  And I had some scraps of paper from the bin for the bottom gingham, and had a ATC envelope from a recent Simon Says Stamp kit.

Learning to Fly

One of my favorite sketch challenge blogs is closing.  This will be their last sketch, and I will miss them terribly.  Over the years I have learned a lot from the design team members about creating CAS cards.  Life demands change and I wish them well on new journeys.  Thank you for the crafting fun!

CAS(E) this Sketch!  #403

I used a new to me Sissix die, some Distress Oxide inks, a Tim Holtz sentiment strip, card stock from stash and a Neenah Environmental Desert Storm card base. Dark, rainy day here - not the best for photos.

Butterfly Birthday AHSC 403

Good morning.  This is my Design Team card for the new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week.  I decided to play with my new Gelli and try some gel press prints. The background was created with Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Shaded Lilac.  I randomly pressed a clean butterfly stamp from Simon Says May 2020 kit to lift ink.  It is very soft and subtle, but lovely in real life.  I used the same stamp set to emboss the butterflies.  The card stock is Close to My Heart. The sentiment is an older Lawn Fawn set called Happy, happy, happy. Vellum piece cut using Altenew's Nesting Labels die.

Something New

I did buy myself some Christmas presents from Altenew! The Inked Lotus stamp and die have been on my want list for a long time so I was very happy when it was on sale.  Also new is the Window Sphere Die...I used it for the first time and it is very intricate.  It didn't cut through the first time. It worked perfectly the second time with a lot of card stock shim...which now means I want a metal shim.  But I could not throw away the green mess, so I cut it and made a lotus leaf! The inked Lotus stamp is just beautiful and I am sooo glad I bought it.  The bloom was lightly colored with Copics.
