Playing with Alcohol Inks

Last night I got out the Yupo paper and a few newer bottles of ink I hadn't tried yet...I made a big mess, and had fun!  For some reason, it was still tacky this morning. That was perfect for adding some foil highlights last night, but now I have tried the heat gun, and they still aren't really dry.  The Yupo paper doesn't cut well with the dies either. But I managed to create some cards.

The large leaf on the left was cut from textured card stock with Simon Says Stamp Large Stitched Maple die. I placed the alcohol piece behind the opening, and adhered it all to a cream card.

I've seen many of these leaf cuts showing pattern in the cut out. They really are a beautiful way to showcase papers, homemade or not!

Cut one leaf out of the center...then popped it with some foam tape. The other two didn't cut through, so I hand trimmed around. The sentiment was heat embossed with gold. This was a design I saw on Pinterest, but apparently didn't save so I am not able to give proper credit for the inspiration.

  1. Beautiful cards! The colors in your background scream Autumn and I love it! The leaves that didn't cut thru work so well with your creation. So glad you joined us at Creative Knockouts! (ps, were did you get the sentiment stamp from?)

    1. Thank you for your kind comments. The sentiment stamp is from an older Close To My Heart set. I began stamping with CTMH friends, and was a consultant for a five years. I am no longer working with them, but have a large collection of their stamps.

  2. Two fabulous cards, Dena! Your die cut leaf gives a gorgeous focal point in your first card and I love how you cut a small leaf to accentuate the swirling autumnal colours in the second too. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.
