Challenge #174 at AAA Cards is to use one third of the space with a twist of woodland animals. Who knew that all my animal stamps are sea or farm creatures, dinosaurs and unicorns?! But I found this little squirrel tucked away in the autumn box. While trying to think of how to have it hold the acorn, I had a goofy idea to make a door and use both sentiments in the set. So if a minimally interactive card can still be CAS - here it is. A bit of masking was used and all was colored with Copics.

Miss You
It was a busy week - but today I got some projects completed, and cleaned up the crafty space so I could mess it up again!
My card is inspired by Sketch Saturday #628
Autumn comes around this week and it's my favorite color palette. I've water colored and fussy cut some leaves then stamped the sentiment with Kaleidacolor Creole Spice pad, and then felt it was too washed out looking. I stamped over with black and purposely offset a bit. Not sure that was a good idea but it's there now! I added a lighter inside panel to my dark green card base and a few more leaves.
Products Used:
My Favorite Things, Wonky Rectangle dies
Impress sentiment stamp
Impression Obsession, Coffee cup die
Simon Says Stamp, leaf stamp

Gnome for the Holidays

Monday and a new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. So many ways to go with this fabulous basic sketch. I was tempted to go with a sunshine...but somehow this idea got in my head! I didn't have a string of lights, so I penciled in a circle and hand drew the string with a micro point Sharpie. The bulbs were made with Nuvo Crystal Drops. Papers from Kringle & Co. Sentiments, sprigs and gnome die from Simon Says Stamp. I colored the sprigs and gnomie's nose with Copics. He is attached with a wobble- which is too cute!
Head on over to Atlantic Hearts - sketch #385- and play along!

Finding Our Way
Nothing makes me happier than a sketch to get me started. Sketch+theme even better! So here is my card, and below I will link directly to some of my favorite challenges for inspiration. The sun is shining and I am looking forward to a day outside - mowing, trimming, harvesting - finding my way through this very strange place (2020) that I sometimes feel lost in. Just thinking about Dory and Nemo swimming home makes me smile.
Used Nina Solar white 110# card base, MFT waves stencil, Tumbles Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks, a sentiment from Altenew, and some darling fish colored with Copics and a few gel pen highlights..

Sunflowers
Stamped, masked, stamped twice again, water colored and fussy cut these sunflowers. Inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch #450 and Double D 'sunflower' challenge.

My Other Hobby
Cooking, baking, canning, collecting recipes, reading (member of three book clubs), and gardening...how to choose? Well, right now the garden is being very demanding so it won the competition for this challenge. Yesterday I roasted and pickled beets, blanched pounds of green beans and got them packaged for the freezer, and dug out the ricer to prepare for the growing pile of tomatoes that can no longer be conquered with panzanella or BLT's. Time to begin the containers of puree for the freezer and next winter's soups and sauce. Thanking my parents and grandparents for teaching me the joys and rewards of the garden.
I have used a favorite older stamp set from Impress with Close to My Heart inks and Zig waterbrush markers. Lots of clean white space - unlike my hands and kitchen counter!
There are some amazing cards at AAA Cards challenge. Check them out and there is still time to play along!

Vintage

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #383
This week's sketch inspired me to pull out several things from the stash of treasured, 'can't throw that away' items. Years ago I acquired a stack of these small images, and though many have found their way onto tags or cards, many remain! I just love the various messages and vintage feel to them. Haven't done a card with that vibe in a while and it was fun to distress paper once again! I also went 'skinny' - now trendy- slim line card. Only new things used were sentiment from an Altenew set and the postage die cut from Simon Says Stamp. My Close to My Heart friends may recognize the papers and embellishment.
This would be a wonderful sketch for a holiday card....what will you make? Link up at AHSC, and drop by Wednesday to see the rest of the design team creations.
