Wise Guy Birthday

Birthday card for my friend's brother - 85 years young!

I used the Close To My Heart Wise Guy Birthday set, cut the hat with Cricut using the Artistry cartridge, some  Fundamentals paper, and Whisper, Poppy and Crystal Blue color palette. I highlighted 'awesome' on the sentiment with watercolor. I used the card shown in the catalogue as inspiration, and sketch pattern #22 in Make It From Your Heart, volume 1.  It looked like it needed something, so I added the faux stitching with a fine journaling pen and a little bling on the hat.

Just Because Atlantic Hearts Sketch #173

Wow....it's been a wild, crazy, fantastic summer.  I am back in the USA...and my craft room.  My last post was from Japan - I was there living in Iwaki, Fukishima for over two months.  My son is a teacher there, and I helped full time in the school where he teaches. What a marvelous experience.

Michelle at Atlantic Hearts was very understanding about my absence, and I am thrilled to be back and starting up again as part of the Design Team for this great sketch challenge blog!

So AHSC #173

My card uses quite a few different Close To My Heart papers (La Vie En Rose, Penelope, Enchantment Fundamentals), and the sentiment from the Oodles of Doodles set was heat embossed.  I used the Artiste cartridge to cut the 3.5" circle from White Daisy card stock, backed it with a piece of La Vie En Rose paper, and adhered that panel to a black card base. Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, Enchanted Garden.
What a great sketch!  Go to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and in the fun creating!

Atlantic Hearts #163

For Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #163

What a great sketch for using some smaller pieces of favorite papers!

Papers on my card come from both CTMH Georgie and Charlotte sets, with White Daisy, Canary, and Fern card stock.  The flower image is from January's SOTM, Beloved Bouquet, and was inked in Canary and Sorbet; the leaves and sentiment  inked with Sweet Leaf and Fern. Twines from the stash.

Check out the creations of the design team and link up a creation of your own!

Atlantic Hearts #161: Greetings!

More fun sketch time at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

This week I used Zoe papers and some Sorbet and Canary card stock. I punched two strips of White Daisy with two different EK border punches.  I punched again on a scrap of the green dot paper to get some 'fronds' for my flower bouquet.  The tiny flower punch has been around in the punch drawer for so long, I have no idea of it's origin!!
I also used a Simon Says Stamp stitched die for the Sorbet panel, and a Gelly Roll white pen for faux stitching. Tiny bling sparkles finished each of the flower centers.  The sentiment is from the CTMH Pen Pals set.

It was a delight to have the sun shining brightly for a natural light photo, and once outside I realized I have mimicked my backyard colors in this card. You can see the pretty orange and yellow on the left.

Greetings to you. Have a sunny day! And play along at Atlantic Hearts, too.

Good Friend

Just what I needed Saturday was a good friend to stamp with me, have some wine and go out to dinner!!  She's the best and always makes me smile.  This card is for her.

I used a brand new stamp from Penny Black, colored directly onto the stamp with various markers, spritzed with water and stamped on the smooth side of a Tim Holtz watercolor piece.  The sentiment is an old favorite called Signature Greetings (I believe it was Papertrey Ink), heat embossed with Hero Arts white powder on Close To My Heart Cocoa cardstock.  I went back in after the image was dry and hand drew in the flower center and highlighted some areas of the branch with a Cocoa marker.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #159

This sweet sketch challenge is new this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.      I used some very favorite CTMH papers of mine (now retired) called Claire.  These colors just make me happy!

I had trouble locating a flower to match the design, so used one from a Papertreyink set called Doodlie Do, stamped in Outdoor Denim twice on different papers, fussy cut, and mounted with some foam tape. The sentiment is from my newest Close To My Heart Set A Friend in Me. A bit of stash ribbon and  bitty pearls to finish.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch 157

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #157

I just love the CTMH Charlotte papers, and so here I am again with it paired with a craft store butterfly and  two sets combined for the embossed sentiment. Now that I look at the picture, I am regretting that I forgot to round the corners on the inside cuts....
Life has been super busy, and I have had to be all about quick and easy cards.  I have two amazing daughters-in-law and they will each get a special card from me. Blessed that they are the moms for those sweet grandchildren!
